The masked man killed Merria’s parents and took her to his castle where he raised her as his daughter. She grew up in this castle and learned how to be useful to him.
However, when it came time for Merria to become an adult, she was betrayed by her foster father and went through many hardships until she was freed from his grasp.
She eventually returned home after many years, but unfortunately realized that her village had been destroyed due to a war between the Kingdom of Alda and another country several years ago; only ruins remained.

She then decided to become a mercenary knight herself so that she could earn money by selling swords or armor and live alone without relying on anyone but herself. Merria therefore became a mercenary knight, using her swordsmanship skills to fight battles on behalf of Aldo’s kingdom against the forces of the other country.
The story itself was quite interesting and engrossing, even though it starts slowly with only one chapter per day. The pace then picks up when they start dating, and even faster when they fall in love. There are also some funny parts between them (especially when they spy on each other) which makes it feel more realistic than most novels (even though there are no such real life events!).
